May mix

Here’s a new one. Having had the mixes blog up for a few months now, it looks like the right frequency for new mixes is going to be monthly. Any more frequently than that and I’ll be recycling a lot of tunes which I wanted to avoid. If you are interested in hearing the new mixes but don’t want to check the site every day/week, just subscribe to the rss feed and as soon as the site is updated you’ll be notified. This one has mostly new stuff on it and has a blend of different styles. Starts off with a weird-ish jazz number, then a bit of Ethiopian jazz, some bossa and then some pitched-down-below-120 bpm deepness before getting a bit more manic, finishing off with a brand new rare groove - this 7″ (from Keith Allen’s daughter!) was only released last week and is already sold out (currently at £26 on ebay).

May mix: 06-05-03.mp3. File Size is 93.1 mb, encoded at 192kpbs, runtime is 1:07:46.

Lovin’ the mix! I’m listening to it right now, about halfway through. Choice cuts, for sure! :)

I especially like the raw analog texture of the first couple of tracks, and the transition into more modern electro-jazz sounds.

Overall, the track selection and pacing is great. Top notch stuff!

      Thanks for the ear candy,

      -Jonah

Keep em comin bro. Doing a great job. Since you’re also doing architecture, i’m guessing having a resident night in London is a bit far off ey?

Anthony: Thanks for that: I’d be honoured. I just checked your place and I like what you’re doing, I’ll add a link to the sidebar.

Sebastian: Thanks also, I’m going to be dj-ing in Dublin on May 27 at Discotonic but that’s as far as it goes for any gigs in the near future.

Thats a shame. I’m in the works of starting a broken beat night in London’s West End, wont be functioning till after summer, or even possibly till end of the year. If you ever want to be a guest DJ let me know :)

Keep up the good work bro.

Oh, I’d love to do a guest spot and I do get over to London about once or twice a year (my wife is from London) - I just meant that I hadn’t any gigs lined up, not that I’m against doing any.

      Cheers!

Cheers. He is indeed - and it was definitely weird (but effective) to see Jim Jarmusch using him for the score of Broken Flowers
