July 08 Mix

Got round to doing this one last night. Shorter than usual but still with a few different styles: Funk, House, Boogie, Broken Beat and Techno from 113 bpm to 127 bpm. I recorded it at 320 by mistake so sorry about the large file size

July 08 Mix: 08-07-24 July 08 Mix.mp3. File Size is 144.1 mb, encoded at 320kpbs, runtime is 1:02:58

I’d actually love for you to give us all your mixes at 320kbps. The higher the quality the louder I can play them in the house :)

      Cheers from Tokyo!

      I’ll take that under advisement!

Do you really notice a difference in sound quality between 192 and 320? My understanding was that under blind testing people can’t differentiate between CD, 320 and 192 so the tradeoff in file size (particularly for long mixes, less so for the shorter ones) suggested 192 as the sweet spot for mixes even though I’d always buy mp3s or rip vinyl at 320 just to be on the safe side.

To be honest, the aspect of sound quality which annoys me personally more so than the encoding as I *do* notice this is the noise I get through my macbook line-in. I’ve checked every connection along the line, from the technics, the torq connectiv and through the mixer, and it seems to be coming from the actual line in - changing the cable doesn’t make a difference. I haven’t got a solution to this yet as to record the mix through torq means bypassing the mixer which does have a nice flange effect, better monitoring and better sliders for mixing than the trigger finger, plus recording with torq means a massive wav file rather than an mp3…
