Ok, I got a chance to lay down part two of the April 08 Mix Selekshan, so here are parts 1 & 2 together. As I posted below, part one goes from 115 to 122 bpm with funk, house, balearic and old school. Part two has a few more different styles: deep, broken, techy, brazilian and disco mostly at about 125bpm

Did this last night. Was going to be a much longer mix but I started recording it at 320k by mistake and I thought I’d cut it after an hour or so and do the next part later. Tempo goes from 115 to 122 and there are a couple of Old School and Balearic joints in there: I’ve really been into the Chaz Jankel tune recently and the little guitar bits in the second half of the John Daly reminded me of 1980s rock which suggested the Chris Rea and even though they’re not in the same key, the chords from Josephine reminded me of Tears which leads onto some deep house… Next part coming soon.

Here’s another long-ish mix with a range of different styles, starting off around 100bpm working up to over 120 bpm. There are one or two sketchy segues in there but I don’t think I’ll get a chance to re-record it over the next week or so so I thought I’d put it up as is.

This is a mix I had been meaning to do for a long time: For some reason or other I have a sentimental attachment to the tunes - even the cheesy ones - I used to hear going out clubbing in London, Summer 1989. I had actually intended to record a different mix last night - another epic mix along the lines of the 32 Tune mix - but buggered up a mix about a half-hour into it so I decided to record this one - which I had more or less set out for a couple of weeks - instead and I’ll (hopefully) get to the long mix over the next few days.

I thought I’d try something different. This one is over twice as long as the usual mixes (which means it won’t fit on one cd - sorry). The idea was to try and get a lot of different types of stuff on it. Soul, Jazz, Funk, House, Broken, Latin, Afro-beat, Disco, Balearic. It’s a bit of an epic in more ways than one. I actually recorded (or thought I recorded) it on Monday night but the file didn’t save properly to my computer (had to happen for the really long mix, didn’t it) so after abandoning the third rescue attempt, I went ahead and re-recorded the whole thing last night in the same sequence, adding in one extra track (04.).

Here’s a new one for June. This is another diverse type mix with a bit of everything - new, old, Balearic, Brazilian, Jazz, Funk, House, Breakbeat & Broken and a range of tempos from about 105 to 140 bpm.
