Thought I’d record this one to listen to on holiday. Starts off after the Dee Dee intro around 89bpm with some latin tunes, then into house, old school hip-house, breaks, broken beat and funky going up to 131bpm.
I dj-ed at Global, Pod Lobby Bar with Michael Black last Friday week. Had some problems trying to get the whole thing recorded but I managed to get my second set down reasonably ok so I thought I’d put it up here:
Ok, I got a chance to lay down part two of the April 08 Mix Selekshan, so here are parts 1 & 2 together. As I posted below, part one goes from 115 to 122 bpm with funk, house, balearic and old school. Part two has a few more different styles: deep, broken, techy, brazilian and disco mostly at about 125bpm

Got another one for this month. Got some latin jazz opening and closing this one and it kicks into a slightly higher tempo than usual – 130 bpm or so working down to the mid 120s later on – and more of an emphasis on the four on the floor stuff. I should have a few more broken joints on the next one.

Here’s another long-ish mix with a range of different styles, starting off around 100bpm working up to over 120 bpm. There are one or two sketchy segues in there but I don’t think I’ll get a chance to re-record it over the next week or so so I thought I’d put it up as is.

I thought I’d do a mix of uptempo Jazz Dance tunes, tempos ranging from 130bpm to over 150bpm, old and new(-ish) tracks. For 08. and 14. I’ve given the name of the artists who actually performed the track. In both cases they are nominal “remixes” (of Jazztronik and 4Hero respectively), but the tracks were performed and recorded from scratch.

Ok, so here’s the second mix for July I promised below. This one is more orientated to new and recent stuff and also features House, Broken and Jazz with a bit of an Afro-beat flavour to the first track:

Here’s a new one. Having had the mixes blog up for a few months now, it looks like the right frequency for new mixes is going to be monthly. Any more frequently than that and I’ll be recycling a lot of tunes which I wanted to avoid. If you are interested in hearing the new mixes but don’t want to check the site every day/week, just subscribe to the rss feed and as soon as the site is updated you’ll be notified. This one has mostly new stuff on it and has a blend of different styles. Starts off with a weird-ish jazz number, then a bit of Ethiopian jazz, some bossa and then some pitched-down-below-120 bpm deepness before getting a bit more manic, finishing off with a brand new rare groove – this 7″ (from Keith Allen’s daughter!) was only released last week and is already sold out (currently at £26 on ebay).

04. V.S.O.P. – Stockholm Cyclo (Soundscapes)
05. Forgotten Places (Moodymann mix) – Alif Tree (Compost)
06. Say You Love Me – Franck Roger (Seasons Limited)
07. ?? – Oscar (Denote)
08. Move (Mark de Clive Lowe mix) – David Burso feat. Navasha Daya (Counterpoint)
Did this one over the weekend. Like the Deeper mix it has a combination of newish and old stuff but probably is a little more diverse musically (hence the title). I’m not 100% pleased with some of the mixing on this and contemplated re-recording the whole thing but I decided to put it up anyway, few rough edges and all. 06-02-25Diverse.mp3.
