As I posted below, part one goes from 115 to 122 bpm with funk, house, balearic and old school. Part two has a few more different styles: deep, broken, techy, brazilian and disco mostly at about 125bpm

Did this last night. Was going to be a much longer mix but I started recording it at 320k by mistake and I thought I’d cut it after an hour or so and do the next part later. Tempo goes from 115 to 122 and there are a couple of Old School and Balearic joints in there: I’ve really been into the Chaz Jankel tune recently and the little guitar bits in the second half of the John Daly reminded me of 1980s rock which suggested the Chris Rea and even though they’re not in the same key, the chords from Josephine reminded me of Tears which leads onto some deep house… Next part coming soon.

Bit later than planned, here’s a new mix. I’d been working on this for a few weeks but just hadn’t managed to find the time to record it until now. It’s another epic mix, the longest one so far with 47 or so tunes over three and three quarter hours and goes from 93 bpm up to 140 bpm with a mix of various styles and of old and new. If the 310 mb file is too big to download in one go you can also download it in three parts (each of which can work as a standalone mix).

So here’s a new mix for November, actually had this planned out the week before last but I didn’t get a chance to put it all down since (as I was away in Aruba for a week!) so I got to it last night. Starts off midtempo, deep, a bit of dub type stuff, working up, mostly house with a bit of broken beat and some other stuff. I have another big backlog of new tunes to get through, so hopefully I’ll do another mix or two before the month’s over

I had been thinking about moving into digital dj-ing for a while and finally decided to invest in the Torq Connectiv a few weeks back. I’ve been trying it out since then and I’m very impressed. I have it set up so that the connectiv interface feeds into my Tascam X-9 mixer so that I can cue and mix through that. I also acquired an M-Audio Triggerfinger which I can use to control the Torq software. The upshot of all this is my first all-mp3 mix. It’s another long one, as with previous mixes there’s a range of different styles on it - Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop, Gospel, House, Broken Beat etc. - and like the 32 Tune mix from last year starts out slow at about 97 bpm working up through the tempos to 130bpm.Second August Mix: 07-09-18twentyeighttunemix.mp3. Got another one for this month. Got some latin jazz opening and closing this one and it kicks into a slightly higher tempo than usual - 130 bpm or so working down to the mid 120s later on - and more of an emphasis on the four on the floor stuff. I should have a few more broken joints on the next one.
